Good roommates start with good questions.
Your budget gets you in the same neighborhood. Your everyday habits help you feel at home together.
1. Find your campus.
Search by university, city, or ZIP. Set your move-in window, monthly budget per person, lease length, household size, and campus radius. These are practical fit checks: we only calculate a match when they overlap.
2. Tell us how you live.
Answer 14 short questions about sleep, cleanliness, guests, noise, pets, smoking, chores, shared belongings, temperature, study, communication, and expenses. Tell us your own habit and what you would comfortably live with. Skip any question, mark what matters, and flag deal-breakers.
3. Understand the fit.
Compatibility combines living habits (40%), financial fit (20%), communication (15%), schedule and study stage (15%), and optional shared interests (10%). We compare both people’s preferences with the other person’s habits. Important preferences count twice within an item.
A five-point answer is compared by distance: each step apart reduces agreement by 25 points. Financial fit includes the proportion of your budget ranges that overlaps. Schedule includes time at home and self-described study stage. Interests use overlap between the hobbies you choose to share.
An unanswered dimension is excluded and its weight redistributed. Missing answers are labeled “Limited information.” Scores of 85 and up are a “Strong match,” 70–84 a “Good match,” 50–69 “Workable with discussion,” and below 50 “Not recommended.” A deal-breaker mismatch on pets, indoor smoking, overnight guests, or noise always changes the verdict to “Discuss before committing.”
This is transparent preference comparison, not a validated personality test, safety assessment, or probability that living together will work. Paid promotion never changes compatibility.
4. Start a conversation.
Ask to connect. Once the other person accepts, private messaging opens. Discuss the differences, arrange a viewing, and make your own decision. Profiles and basic messaging are free.
